Mighty Writers’ All But True Stories Series Presents: The Environment in Fiction, featuring authors Kate Brandes and Viet Dinh. Brandes and Dinh will be reading from their new novels, The Promise of Pierson Orchard and After Disasters respectively, then leading a discussion about their work. Treehouse Books

Tree House Books is getting ready to host Philadelphia Literacy Day!

May 13 is officially Philadelphia Literacy Day and Tree House Books is having a grand celebration. The fun actually starts on Friday night, May 12 at Tree House headquarters, but the big event will be a “literacy” festival held at Smith Memorial Playground on Saturday. There will be games, art activities, readings and a big book Market where attendees can bring gently used books to donate and take home new books. The Festival is free and runs from 11:00am – 3pm. Art Sanctuary’s Annual Literary and Arts Conference is going down for the first time at the African American Museum in Center City this year. Workshops and readings for adults and kids run from 9:30am – 5:00pm. First 250 to arrive get in for free! For details on all the offerings, check out the Art Sanctuary website.

Kelly Writers House (KWH) Alumni Weekend Open House… And you don’t have to be an alumni to attend. Doors are open for folks to come and get to know what Kelly Writers House is all about. Coffee and light refreshments will be served. 2 pm – 5:00pm. Visit the Events page of KWH for more information.
