Saturday July 1, 2017: 12:00pm – 3:00pm Block Party at the Keith Haring Garden. It’s a celebration of books, art, children and diversity. Kay Haring, the author of The Boy Who Just Kept Drawing, will be on hand to help honor her brother’s legacy with a reading from her new picture book and will have copies to sign and sell. In conjunction with the Queen Memorial Library, the party is open to all and promises food, fun and excitement.
Friday July 7, 2017 Author Matthew Quick Comes to Open Book Bookstore. The author of The Silver Linings Playbook is coming to Elkins Park to celebrate the publication of his new novel, The Reason You’re Alive. RSVP is required for the event, so please visit the Open Book website.
Friday July 7 – Sunday July 9, 2017 “James Baldwin: God’s Revolutionary Voice: A Celebration of the life and work of James Baldwin.” Here you have a weekend of curated film screenings, panel discussions, music, poetry, food and drink, all to honor one of our greatest American scribes. All events take place at the gorgeous Church of the Advocate on 18th & Diamond.
