January 12, 2018, 8pm. Trump’s America: A Comedy Show is happening at Amalgam Comics & Coffeehouse, Inc. When you’re done laughing, you can buy a comic to go.
January 16, 2018, 7:30pm. Everybody’s talking about Michael Wolff’s new book, Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House. Come hear Wolff in conversation with Dick Polman and hear what all the fuss is about at the Free Library of Philadelphia Parkway Central Branch. Free!
January 17, 2018, 6:30pm. One Book/One Philadelphia Kick-Off Event with Jacqueline Woodson. This year’s chosen title is Woodson’s, Another Brooklyn. Come hear the author discuss the themes in the book and stay for the performance by poet Yolanda Wisher and her band, The Afroeaters. Free!
January 21, 2018, 3pm. Books from Banned Lands Reading Group. Penn Book Center will be having their last open gathering to discuss books banned from the seven Middle Eastern and North African countries targeted by the orange menace’s “Travel Ban.” At this meeting, the book being discussed will be a book of short stories called, They Die Strangers by Yemeni author Mohammad Abdul-Wali. All are welcome, light snacks provided.
January 27, 2018, 7pm. Cartoonists vs T***P at the Big Blue Marble Bookstore. Join two award-winning cartoonists as they talk about their new books about (or is it against?) the Cheeto in the White House.
